In 2020, the Hallnet / Active Housing team did a challenge to raise money for the White Chapel Centre, a homelessness charity based in Liverpool.

White Chapel Centre works with people and households who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. They help to provide housing and welfare rights advice and support, and where prevention is not possible, they work with individuals to help find new accommodation.

They are doing excellent work to help end homelessness in Liverpool, which is why we chose them as our charity to donate to from the #2020in2020 challenge!

The challenge started in February last year with the purpose to promote staff wellness through exercise and activity and raise money for a worthy charity.

We challenged our staff to complete 2020 miles before the end of 2020. Those miles could be completed by walking, running or swimming. For every mile covered, Active Housing would donate 50p to the White Chapel Centre.

This brought everybody together and got the whole team moving. Before the lockdown restrictions there was a company organised 10k walk, and people were spending their lunch times getting outside and moving rather than sitting at their desks.

The team hit the target by September 2020, and at the start of 2021, we donated the money to the White Chapel Centre who were delighted to receive the donation.

We are now looking for our next challenge for 2021, to keep our staff moving and donate again to a worthy cause!
